Kettering to Corby A43 road closure traffic jams cause ‘frustration and stress’ for drivers
Motorists using a major route near Kettering could be stuck in traffic jams due to series of road closures and temporary traffic lights.
On the second day of a week-long road closures – scheduled to take place 9.30am to 3.30pm daily, ending on Monday, November 2 – drivers have been left in long tailbacks.
Work is being carried on the Kettering-Corby stretch of road between the Newton Road (Barford Bridge) roundabout to the main Weekley Wood Avenue ‘hamburger’ roundabout.

But traffic needing to access businesses off the A43 have been funnelled down to one lane, leading to congestion to and from Glendon Road and the Prologis Park.
Today, to add to the misery, traffic lights in Glendon Road stuck on red as the roadworks were put in place, leaving workers to direct lorries, vans and cars.
Motorists travelling on the Kettering northern bypass have also experienced queues as they attempt to find an alternative route.
Emma Dezelu’s Market Harborough to Kettering commute usually takes 35 minutes, but yesterday it took two hours due to a series of roadworks.

She said: “Today I came via Corby. Yesterday I was so frustrated. My anger was rising – I just couldn’t do anything. I was stuck for 40 minutes at Glendon. I was stuck in Desborough, I was stuck in Rothwell. It was pretty stressful.”
People using the Desborough-Rothwell bypass have also been diverted as roadworks closed the A6. Ongoing roadworks controlled by traffic lights also caused delays outside the medical centre in Desborough Road, Rothwell.
Anyone who chose an alternative cross-country route found further closures.
Ms Dezelu said: “I think there needs to be more signs. I only saw one sign, and that wasn’t obvious.”
It is believed the works are being carried out during half term as it is the ‘least disruptive’ time.
Work on ‘drainage cleansing’ and ‘parish enhancement works’ continue until November 2.
North Northants Council has been contacted for a comment.
