Wellingborough Specsavers founder cuts ribbon to mark business' relocation

Wellingborough’s Specsavers has relocated from its previous site and into a larger store in Swansgate Shopping Centre.

On Monday, October 19, the brand moved from its space in Spring Lane to a shop in Corn Lane to feature a wider range of services for customers.

The opening was marked by a balloon arch in the brand’s green and white colours, and a ribbon cutting by Dame Mary Perkins, who is the founder of Specsavers.

She said: “It was a pleasure to join the team to celebrate the opening of their new store. Congratulations to the store directors, Rikesh Chauhan, Wayne Barry and Irfan Makda, and the rest of the Wellingborough team.”

More than double the space of their previous store, the new premises in Swansgate now includes nine optical consulting rooms, five diagnostic rooms, a pair of dedicated audiology rooms, a separate contact lens area and a state-of-the-art dry eye therapy room.

The move this month has created a more accessible and practical environment for both customers and colleagues.

Guest Mayor of Wellingborough Cllr Sylvia Erskine said: “The new store looks fantastic. It’s great to see this investment in Wellingborough, giving the team more space to provide the best eye and ear care for the local community.”

Store director Rikesh Chauhan added: “Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the opening and made it such a success.

"We’re excited to be in our new home and look forward to welcoming customers through the doors. Please do pop in and see us soon.”
