Residents at Westhill Park took part in The Alzheimer's Society Cupcake Day

A care home in Kettering held a cupcake day for residents and to raise money for a good cause.

Westhill Park's cupcake day meant residents could enjoy some sweet treats and a full day of activities while they continue to be separated from loved ones during lockdown.

It was also in aid of the Alzheimer's Society, a charity that has been encouraging members of the community to get together and 'turn the heat up on dementia' by baking.

The care home had a full day of activities for residents and raised money for charity

Home manager Susanna Stevens said: "It was a fantastic effort by all at Westhill Park. We had such a fun day and raised a lot of 'dough' for a wonderful cause."

To include family and loved ones who are unable to visit, the care home shared pictures and videos of the event on social media and a Just Giving page was set up.

Residents and their families raised £165 in a day for the Alzheimer's Society.

Westhill Park made the news earlier this year for embracing social media site TikTok with residents. TikTok users create videos by dancing or miming along to music and Westhill Park's videos have had thousands of views.
