The dinner also highlighted the mayor’s chosen charities for the year, with representatives in attendance from Home Start, which supports early years development for local families, and Lakelands Hospice, which provides essential palliative and end-of-life care to the community.

Guests were treated to a high-standard culinary experience with food and waiter service provided by students of Tresham College.

Their professionalism and hospitality ensured a seamless and wonderful dining experience.

The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by the traditional sounds of a Corby Silver Band, who performed a selection of Christmas classics throughout the evening.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Cllr Reilly described the evening as ‘joyous and very festive’ and he extended a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in making the night a success.

Cllr Reilly said: “This evening was a wonderful opportunity to bring our community together.

"I am incredibly grateful to the students of Tresham College for their hard work, the musicians for their beautiful performance and all our guests for supporting such worthy causes.

"It was a truly memorable night.

"My thanks also goes to Lilly and Christian who were my two Christmas card winners for attending, mayor Caroline Cross of Irthingborough and mayor Gill Mercer of Rushden and their consorts for also attending and supporting this event.”

Adding to the praise for the evening, leader of the council Simon Rielly expressed pride in the community partnership on display.

He said: "This event perfectly captures the spirit of our town. Seeing the incredible talent of the Tresham College students and the dedication of our local charities, all while celebrating our young competition winners, reminds us of what makes Corby so special.

"It was a fantastic evening that truly marks the start of the festive season."

A raffle of 20 prizes raised a total of £335 for the two charities.
