Northamptonshire animal charity shortlisted for UK shelter of the year in the Rescue Pet Awards 2026
A Northamptonshire animal charity is one of just five finalists in the UK shortlisted for shelter of the year.
The team at Animals In Need in Little Irchester are ‘absolutely delighted’ to be shortlisted in the UK shelter of the year category for The Rescue Pet Awards 2026.
The awards, run by Only Rescues UK, are designed to celebrate the incredible animals, people, charities and organisations making a difference in the world of pet rescue.
Sanctuary manager Annie Marriott said: "This means so much to us and everyone who plays a part in giving animals a second chance.

"From our dedicated staff and volunteers to our wonderful supporters, every one of you helps make a difference to all of the animals.
"We’re looking forward to meeting the other finalists at the awards ceremony in November and celebrating the incredible work rescue organisations do for animals across the UK too - good luck everyone.
"A huge thank you to Only Rescues UK for organising the awards and to our category sponsor, Simply Jaspers, for their support.
"We’re keeping our paws, wings and claws crossed for November!”
The shelter of the year category celebrates an outstanding UK-based animal rescue shelter that has gone above and beyond in caring for dogs, cats and other rescue animals.
The winning shelter will be awarded a £500 donation.
The awards website says: “We’re looking for shelters whose dedication, innovation and compassion have made a real difference in the lives of animals and the communities they serve.”
Animals In Need has been rescuing and rehoming animals across Northamptonshire and beyond for 35 years.
