A Corby man with a long criminal history has been found not guilty of three offences after a Northampton Crown Court trial.

A jury returned not guilty verdicts on three charges against Liam Paul McKinnon on Friday (September 11) following a trial last week.

McKinnon, of HMP Peterborough but formerly of Ashley Avenue, Corby, was accused of three historical offences against a primary-school aged girl. The charges included two of inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity and one of sexual assault.

The 40-year-old was found not guilty and the case was discharged.

McKinnon has a long history of serious offending in Corby.

Back in 2024 he was given more than three years in prison after taking sexual photos of children and sharing them online. He was snared when he spoke to a police decoy online about his will to sexually abuse a child, which he had deemed ‘too risky’ at that time.

After he was jailed, police described him as a 'dangerous, predatory and opportunistic paedophile.'

Earlier that he year he was again jailed after he was found with a machete, a hunting knife and a firearm in Everest Lane, Corby.

In 2005 he was cleared of the unlawful killing of John Moir who was punched by McKinnon after leaving The Village Inn in Corby.
