Volunteers from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Kettering recently visited local charity Baby Basics Northampton to deliver essential baby care kits worth over £16,000.

Baby Basics Northampton is a volunteer-led charity dedicated to supporting new parents and newborns in vulnerable situations. The charity provides moses baskets filled with essential items to mothers and families who are struggling to cope with the financial and practical challenges of caring for a new baby.

The Amazon donation included 650 kits for new parents containing toiletries, children’s toys and clothing, and other essential items for newborns.
Jenifer Arakkal from Amazon in Kettering said: “We’re incredibly proud to support Baby Basics Northampton with this donation. Every day our team works hard to get essential items to people who need them, and being able to extend that same mission to local families going through a challenging time feels especially meaningful. We hope these kits offer some comfort and practical support to new parents right when they need it most.”
Sabrina Oakey, CEO and founder of Baby Basics Northampton added: “Donations like this make an enormous difference to the families we support. Many of the parents we work with are facing incredibly difficult circumstances, and something as simple as a stocked moses basket can take a huge weight off their shoulders. Thank you to the volunteers from Amazon in Kettering for their help, and to everyone who gave their time to make this happen.”
Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates. Amazon co-founded the Multibank initiative with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to support families in need. The West Midlands Multibank opened this year, with Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC). The initiative has donated more than 12 million surplus goods to over 800,000 families across Wales, Scotland, Greater Manchester, London, Tees Valley and Birmingham. This year, the Multibank will send 1 million orders to families across the UK.
Amazon has supported more than one million students across the UK with free STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good.
Amazon partners with Comic Relief and is the official home of the charity’s iconic Red Nose. Together with its employees, customers, and partners, Amazon has raised over £4.8 million to fund projects that support people across the UK, and around the world.
