Scrimshaw still striving for 'something extra' as he enjoys strong start to Steelbacks' Blast campaign
"I am really hoping to find something extra.”
George Scrimshaw has enjoyed a strong start to the 2026 Vitality Blast campaign - but the big pace bowler believes there is a lot more to come from him.

The former Derbyshire pace ace was the last-over hero as he helped secure a nervy three-run win in the opening clash against Glamorgan at the cinch County Ground on Friday.
Scrimshaw successfully ensured a Dan Douthwaite-inspired Glamorgan failed to get the 10 runs they needed from the final six balls, claiming a wicket and conceding just six as he ended with three for 33 from his four overs.
And he followed that up with one for 16 from a couple of overs as Worcestershire Rapids were thrashed by 100 runs at New Road on Sunday.
It has been an encouraging start for Scrimshaw, who is now in his third season as a Northants player following his move to Wantage Road ahead of the 2024 campaign.
And, ahead of Friday night’s home date with Gloucestershire (start 6.30pm), he is aiming for his solid start to be just the beginning.
"I am hoping there is more to come from me," said Scrimshaw after Friday's win over Glamorgan.
"It is not 100 per cent clicking and I have missed a few times, but I am really hoping to find something extra.
"I have been working with Chappy (Glenn Chapple) the bowling coach on a few things, and I am just trying to find my snap if you like.
"A few came out nicely on Friday night but there's definitely still a lot to clean up on."
So what influence is bowling coach Chapple, a former Lancashire player and head coach, having on Scrimshaw?
"He always questions you as a bowler, and he does it for the right reasons," said the 28-year-old.
"He was a brilliant bowler himself, so you take on board everything he says and he has really helped the lads."
Another big plus for Scrimshaw is the fact he is 100 per cent fit and firing.
No stranger to injury issues, Scrimshaw, who has one England appearance to his name, feels really good, and admits it was a bonus for him to get some red-ball action in as he played in the recent loss at former club Derbyshire.
"It was nice to get a run-out in the Championship and to get some overs under my belt," he said.
"I think I bowled around 20 overs, and then it was a long slog to try and defend out for the draw.
"But it is good to come off the pre-season and not have any niggles.
"I had a bit of a side strain last year, so to come back and be fit and firing for the Blast is great, it's good that I can trust my body still."
