Despite the win, the Steelbacks still finished fourth in the table as third-placed Kent were also impressive winners, seeing off Leicestershire by 88 runs.

At the top, long-time group leaders Glamorgan were thrashed by 10 wickets at Middlesex, a result that saw the latter claim top spot and a home date with the Steelbacks.

It is a match Northants can go into with confidence having secured a 105-run win over Middlesex at Radlett last month.

The other semi-final clash will see Glamorgan host Kent.

The winners of the two last four clashes will then meet in the final at the County Ground in Bristol on September 20.

On Sunday, Derbyshire looked to be on course for a big score as they eased to 86 for one in the 19th over, but Gemma Marriott's dismissal of opener Lara Shaw for 54 sparked a collapse that saw them bowled out for 169.

Frances Lonsdale hit 60 and Matilda Atherton Gater 22, but nobody else reached double figures as the Steelbacks bowers took control.

Marriott ended with figures of three for 23, as did skipper Anisha Patel, as Derbyshire lost their last nine wickets for just 83 runs.

The Steelbacks opening pair of Amelia Kemp (46 from 38 balls) and Chloe Hill (19 from 27) then put on 70 for the first wicket in just 10.2 overs.

And although both fell in quick succession and Beth Ascott was dismissed cheaply to leave the Steelbacks 82 for three, Marriott and May Drinkell saw their team home with an unbeaten 88-run stand.

Marriott completed an excellent day as she ended on 50 not out from 41 balls while Drinkell was unbeaten on 42 from 35 balls.
