Poppies handed road trip to higher level opposition in FA Trophy

Kettering Town have been handed an away trip to higher level opposition in the second round of the FA Trophy.

The Poppies will make the trip to Enterprise National League South outfit Braintree, with the tie scheduled for Saturday, November 14.

Kettering booked their place in the hat with a 6-2 win over Quorn on Saturday, while Braintree join the competition at this stage.

If joint manager David Bridgwater needs any information on Braintree, then all he needs to do is contact AFC Rushden & Diamonds boss Elliot Sandy.

That's because Diamonds secured a 2-1 win over the Step 2 side in the third qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup earlier this month.

Braintree, who play at the Cressing Road Stadium, are currently fourth-from-bottom in National League South, and have lost five of their home league matches so far this season.

On Saturday they were hammered 6-0 at Farnham Town.
