Wellingborough and Rushden MP Gen Kitchen to host free money advice drop-in this week

Peoplein Wellingborough will have the opportunity to speak with their MP about money and financial advice in the town centre this week

On Friday, November 21 Gen Kitchen will host a free money advice clinic to provide support to local people on issues such as debt, utility bills, benefits, financial scams, and getting back into work.

The Wellingborough and Rushden MP held financial advice surgeries last winter aimed at pensioners. This year, the aim is to expand the event to reach as many residents within the constituency as possible.

Gen Kitchen said: “The events I held last year were really successful and we were able to point many people in the right direction to get the support they needed. The single biggest saving we’ve made for a constituent was £3,900.00.

“The Cost of Living crisis has been difficult for everyone and this time of year can be particularly tough for families. Financial concerns can come in many different forms and so this year I wanted to invite more organisations along to provide support to as many people as possible, regardless of age or circumstances.”

The event, which will take place between 11am and 1pm at the former Select unit in the Swansgate Centre, will also be attended by the Department for Work and Pensions, Anglian Water, Age UK Northamptonshire and Community Law Service.

“One of my pledges to the people of Wellingborough and Rushden was to deliver policies that put more money in your pocket. These advice clinics is a way for me to help people with their finances and I’m very grateful to the organisations involved for helping me to do this.”
