Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service launches 'Think 50' campaign to mark 50 years of supporting survivors

Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service (NDAS) is proud to launch its ‘Think 50’ anniversary campaign, marking 50 years of supporting families affected by domestic abuse across Northamptonshire.

Established in 1976, NDAS has grown into a vital lifeline for individuals and families experiencing domestic abuse, providing specialist support, advocacy and practical help to keep survivors and their children safe.

Over the past five decades, the organisation has remained committed to responding to need with compassion, professionalism and survivor-centred care.

As part of its 50th anniversary year, NDAS is launching a £50,000 ‘Think 50’ fundraising appeal, encouraging supporters, communities and businesses to get involved in a variety of ways to help secure the future of its essential services.

Funds raised will directly support frontline delivery and ensure the charity can continue to meet increasing demand across the county.

Dr Rachel Duncan, chief executive of Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service, said: “Reaching 50 years is both a moment of reflection and a call to action.

"Behind every statistic is a person seeking safety, dignity and hope.

"Through our ‘Think 50’ campaign, we are inviting our community and partners to be part of the next chapter, helping us continue to be there for survivors for many years to come.”

To celebrate the milestone, NDAS is hosting a special 50th anniversary event on October 11 at V and B Northampton, featuring local music acts Pure Genius and Adam the Greek.

Early bird tickets are on sale now and can be purchased via NDAS Sunday Social at V and B Northampton event tickets from TicketSource

NDAS is also inviting local businesses and corporate partners to support the anniversary through a range of sponsorship packages, offering opportunities to align with a well-established charity and demonstrate meaningful community impact.

The ‘Think 50’ campaign aims not only to celebrate NDAS’s history, but to highlight the ongoing need for domestic abuse services across Northamptonshire.

By encouraging people to ‘think 50’ — whether donating, fundraising, attending events or partnering as a sponsor — NDAS hopes to inspire collective action to make a lasting difference for survivors.
