A runner has raised hundreds of pounds for the NHS by jogging through every single street in Burton Latimer.

Alan Rain, 46, was inspired to take on the challenge after seeing running pal Damian Carr do the same in Kettering at the end of April.

On Sunday (May 3) the full-time carer ran more than 27 miles in four hours and 20 minutes - raising £815 for the NHS Covid-19 appeal in the process.

He said: "I just wanted to do something for the NHS and I saw Damian had done it so thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and do Burton.

"I do not think I'll be doing it again!"

Alan, who runs for Kettering Town Harriers and has previously completed marathons, ran through so many streets it amounted to seven sheets of paper when they were typed out.

And he's going to carry on running, planning similar challenges elsewhere in the county in May.

On May 17 he will run through every street in Finedon and on May 24 he will do the same in Barton Seagrave.

He added: "My partner was in ICU (intensive care unit about two years ago so with the coronavirus I know what that situation is like.

"I just wanted to do something to help."
