Wellingborough business' Christmas tractor run cancelled as organisers 'taking a break' this year
Mowerman Garden Machinery Ltd, a Wellingborough-based business specialising in new and used garden machinery and tools, has cancelled its annual Christmas tractor run due to ‘work commitments.’
The business, based on Wellingborough’s Leyland Trading Estate, holds an annual tractor run for charity, where a convoy of illuminated tractors and farm equipment drive around north Northamptonshire, including stopping at towns such as Wellingborough, Finedon, Irthlingborough and Rushden.
It’s a much-loved part of the Christmas season in Northamptonshire, with people watching the festive display from up close while staff from Mowerman Garden Machinery collect for local charities.
A Mowerman Garden Machinery spokesman said: “Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision not to host the Mowerman Annual Charity Tractor Run this year due to work commitments.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed organising and hosting this event over the past four years and are incredibly grateful for the support it has received."
The event has previously benefitted local charities such as the Centenary Wing at Kettering General Hospital, Northampton Saints Foundation and Kelly’s Heroes.
Though this year’s run will not go ahead, there is hope it will be back in future years,
The Mowerman spokesman added: “While we are taking a break this year, we hope to return in the future when we can commit the time needed to make the event the success it deserves.
“We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has taken part, attended, donated, volunteered and supported the Charity Tractor Run over the years.
"Your enthusiasm and generosity have helped make the event such a success and we truly appreciate every one of you.
“Thank you for your continued support and we hope to see you again in the future.”
