Investigation alert after Kettering General Hospital discharge note sent to wrong patient

Bosses at Kettering General Hospital have apologised to a patient after their discharge note was sent to the wrong address.

The mix-up emerged last week after a member of a Rushden Facebook group said they had received the discharge notes alongside their own.

In reply, the person, whose notes had been shared, said they were ‘deeply traumatised’ by the mistake and asked for them to be returned after reading the post.

They have been urged to contact the hospital University Hospitals of Northamptonshire (UHN) Group, that runs Kettering General Hospital, as soon as possible.

UHN Group medical director Hemant Nemade, said: “We are sorry to hear that a discharge note has been sent to the wrong person. We would urge the patient concerned to contact us immediately so that we can investigate and apologise to them. We take any breach of confidential information extremely seriously and will investigate what went wrong.”
