Corby MP pledges to murdered Harshita's family he will 'continue to fight for justice'
Loved ones of murdered Harshita Brella have travelled to Westminster to meet with her MP as they seek justice for the 24-year-old Corby resident.
Harshita’s life was tragically cut short in November 2024 and 18 months on, her family has travelled 4,000 miles from India to the UK to demand justice.
As part of a gruelling round of meetings, Harshita’s mum, Sudesh Kumari, dad Satbir Singh and sister Sonia Dabas have met with 24-year-old Harshita’s MP Lee Barron.
Mr Barron welcomed the family to the Houses of Parliament where Mr Barron has already raised Harshita’s case in the Commons during Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) in the days after she was killed.

Mr Barron said: “I met with Harshita’s sister Sonia Dabas and her parents Satbir and Sudesh at the House of Commons.
"This private meeting was an opportunity to hear first-hand the family’s experiences and to understand how, as Harshita’s MP, I can continue to offer my support.
“Since the tragic death of Harshita Brella, I have pledged my ongoing support to her family and friends and have shared the shocking case with the Home Secretary and raised a question at PMQs.
“The ongoing investigation means I must restrict any public comments to avoid prejudicing the case, but I have assured the family that behind the scenes I will be continuing to fight for justice for Harshita.
“My thoughts are with her family and loved ones.”
Harshita’s body was discovered dumped in a car boot – her husband, Pankaj Lamba, had fled to India and remains on the run a year-and a-half later.
Her family is being supported in the UK by the Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council (NREC).
NREC chief executive Anjona Roy said: “This case raises serious concerns about how domestic abuse cases are handled and highlights the risks faced by women, particularly those who may be isolated or new to the UK. Systems must do better to protect those at risk.”
In November 2025, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) concluded four Northamptonshire Police officers should face misconduct proceedings.
A memorial event organised by Harshita’s family is being held in Corby on Saturday, May 23, from 3.30pm to 4.30pm at the Hazelwood Community Centre in Corby. People are being asked to pay their respects to Harshita at the Gainsborough Road venue.
