Residents invited to apply for allotments at new Bellway development in Desborough
Residents at two Bellway developments in Desborough have been invited to express their interest in taking on one of the 18 allotment plots which have been created at the site.

The allotments are part of the first sections of public open space at Weavers Fields to be transferred from Bellway to management company Trinity Estates, which will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the outdoor communal areas at the development.
The initial handover includes two parcels of green space at the northern end of the site, located near to the 82 homes built in phase one of the development. This includes the green space at the entrance to the development from Stoke Albany Road and a second area of green space further within the site which features a children’s play area and the allotments. Several areas of green space have also been handed over.

Further areas of public open space will be transferred at later stages in the construction programme. Trinity Estates will eventually be responsible for maintaining all outdoor communal areas at both Weavers Fields and neighbouring The Wickets development, where Bellway is building under its Ashberry Homes brand. The two developments will deliver a combined total of 700 new homes.
Trinity Estates has written to residents who have already moved in at Weavers Fields and The Wickets with an offer to rent one of the allotment plots. It is hoped the first plots could be handed over by the beginning of next year.
Luke Southgate, Sales Director at Bellway Northern Home Counties, said: “The allotments at Weavers Fields are part of our wider commitment to provide attractive outdoor spaces which residents can use for relaxation and recreation. Our partnership with Trinity Estates will ensure these spaces are well maintained and looked after long into the future.
“Children are already enjoying the new play area which features a wide variety of equipment including a swing, climbing frame and wizard’s hideaway, while the landscaped green spaces are the ideal place for an invigorating morning run or relaxing afternoon stroll with the dog.

“Allotments offer a whole host of benefits, from supporting mental wellbeing to encouraging healthy lifestyles and promoting sustainable practices, something which aligns very closely with Bellway’s ethos of doing the right thing for people and the planet.”
Trinity Estates will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the public open space and play areas at Weavers Fields and The Wickets, while residents will have access to an online portal where they can report issues.
Zoe Byass, Head of New Schemes Management at Trinity Estates, said: “Trinity Estates and Bellway are committed to working together to ensure the smooth handover of the public open space at Weavers Fields and The Wickets and to achieving a high standard of ongoing maintenance.
“Following the handover of the first areas of public open space, we are now seeking expressions of interest from residents who would like to take on one of the newly created allotment plots, which we hope to be able to transfer to the new allotment holders by the start of next year.”
