The free event, taking place at Tresham College, Wellingborough, from 4pm to 6pm, will bring together some of the biggest employers in the area, showcasing hundreds of vacancies and offering advice on training, apprenticeships and career progression.

The event comes as the latest employment statistics highlight positive progress across North Northamptonshire, with unemployment continuing to fall. In particular, claimant numbers among 18 to 24-year-olds have reduced by 2% in Kettering, while across North Northamptonshire the overall claimant count has fallen by 1% compared to the same period last year.

Visitors attending the Recruitment, Skills & Careers Event will have the opportunity to meet employers face-to-face, discuss live vacancies, learn about training pathways and explore options for entering new industries or progressing their careers.

Employers and organisations confirmed to attend include Amazon, G4S, Northamptonshire Police, North Northamptonshire Council, the Civil Service, the Army, Royal Navy, Kier, National Probation Service, ISS Facilities Management, Tresham College, HCC Solutions, Shared Lives, Support Northamptonshire, Utility Warehouse and many more.

Representatives from Tresham College, part of The Bedford College Group, will also be available to discuss apprenticeships, T Levels, part-time study and funding opportunities to help people gain the skills employers are looking for. The college will additionally be promoting its own vacancies and speaking with businesses about workforce development and training support.

Julie Pritchard from the Employer and Partnership Team for Northamptonshire said: "Our Jobcentres across Northamptonshire provide tailored support to help people find work and progress in their careers, while our Employer Partnership Teams connect local businesses with suitable candidates.

"Alongside jobs fairs, training opportunities and support with childcare costs, jobseekers can access vacancies through the Find a Job service. We also encourage employers to get in touch to learn how we can help fill their vacant posts.

"This event is a fantastic opportunity for local people to meet employers directly, discover vacancies, learn about training opportunities and take the next step towards a rewarding career."

The event aims to support not only jobseekers but also those already in work who may be looking to upskill, retrain or explore new career opportunities. Employers will be on hand to discuss current vacancies, career pathways and the skills they are looking for in future recruits.

North Northamptonshire residents will be able to learn more about opportunities within the Civil Service, local government, healthcare, social care, logistics, security, construction, public services, recruitment and the voluntary sector, all under one roof.

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions said: "Today's figures show a labour market that remains resilient in the face of significant global economic pressures, with unemployment steady in recent months and vacancies around their long-term average.

"But we know there is more work to do, particularly to ensure young people gain the skills, experience and confidence needed to succeed."
