Help Wicksteed Park raise funds for water chute

Wicksteed Park’s iconic Water Chute celebrated its 100th birthday earlier this year and last week some of our visitors were lucky enough to climb on board for the one-millionth splashdown in the ride’s history.

It continues to be one of our most-loved attractions and the Wicksteed Charitable Trust, which owns the park, has now launched a fundraising campaign to pay for urgent repairs to the ride’s roof before the start of the 2027 season.

We need your help to raise £30,000 for the essential restoration work, helping to preserve the Water Chute so it can be enjoyed for generations to come.

The attraction was built in 1926 by Wicksteed Park’s founder Charles Wicksteed, the creator of swings and slides as we know them today. It was a forerunner to many of the theme park rides now popular across the world.

Ways to support the appeal include making a donation, organising a fundraising event, volunteering your time, becoming a Friend of Wicksteed, supporting the park through your business or simply helping spread the word.

Many people still don't realise that Wicksteed Charitable Trust is the charity caring for Wicksteed Park today and protecting it for tomorrow. Every donation to this appeal helps us care for this special place, protect its heritage and preserve the memories it has created for generations.

The summer holidays might be over but the park’s rides and attractions are still open every weekend until the first week in October.

You can also join us on from 10:30am till 4pm on October 10, 11, 17 and 18 for some spooktastic family fun!

Your ride wristband will also give you admission to the Halloween Haunt Chapter 3 attraction and the chance to solve a mystery in our outdoor trail area.

In October half-term we also kick off the weekend with the Halloween Craft and Readers Fair and there’s extra family fun in with Zoolab’s fang-tastic Spooky Potions Show in the Wicky Bear Theatre, included in the price of your wristband.

Oktoberfest is also coming back to Wicksteed Park on from 7.30pm on Saturday October 3.

Enjoy entertainment from the Bavarian themed The Oomparty Band, sing-a-longs and games followed by a disco to keep the party going, with German food and drinks available to purchase on the night.
