Rushden’s James Richardson lived up to his nickname of ‘Ruthless’ as he hit a perfect nine-dart leg to beat his own son Joshua in the online Modus Live League.
Richardson Snr produced the magical moment in the deciding leg with back-to-back 180s and a 141 checkout to seal a 4-3 win over his son and seal two points.

Hide AdIt was the first nine-darter in the all-new staging of the Modus Live League and is also the first time a father has hit a nine-dart finish against their son in a televised or streamed match.
Richardson Snr went on to complete a clean sweep of five consecutive victories on the first day of action to top the early Group A table.
The 47-year-old opened up with a 4-2 win over Fallon Sherrock before defeating Colin Osborne by the same scoreline.
That was followed by his nine-dart heroics in denying 23-year-old Joshua – winner of the 2016 BDO World Youth Championship.

Hide AdA 4-0 whitewash of Welshman Mike Warburton proved the decisive result in the group as Richardson Snr climbed to the top of the table and cemented his position with a narrow 4-3 win over Les Wallace in his final match.
It was a Richardson one-two at the end of Monday as Joshua secured second spot with three wins from his five fixtures, ahead of Warburton on legs difference.
The winner of Group A, which will be completed on Wednesday will progress to Saturday’s final group alongside the top two from Group B and Group C, which will be contested later in the week.
