The newly-formed Desborough Runners has been supporting their members through these strange times by holding regular online meetings, quizzes and have recently started posting daily challenges for members of the club and the local community on their social media accounts.

Alongside this, the club are looking to train up as many of their members as mental health first aiders as possible to tie in the Mental Health Awareness Week, which has been taking place this week.

Club coach and committee member Matthew Peleszok said: “During the recent months we have seen lots of members coming together to support one another, both through the change in physical running routines and the mental challenges lockdown brings.

“As a club, we are working together to come out of the situation as a stronger club for the local community."

Despite its growing size, the club is well stocked with qualified coaches and experienced runners keen to support local residents and maintain and improve their exercise levels post lockdown.

The club is waiting for England Athletics to allow them to restart and when they do, they will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Desborough Leisure Centre from 7pm.

They have a full range of abilities within the club and are keen to support new members when the lockdown ends.
