The Kettering Town (Poppies) Supporters Trust has launched a ‘New Home Fund’ to help the club in its bid to return to their hometown.

Over the last couple of weeks, the Poppies’ hopes of moving back to Kettering have been boosted after the Secretary of State approved the purchase of land at Frenches Field in the north of the town before the club confirmed they had exchanged contracts with Kettering Borough Council.

Now the supporters group are swinging back into action to ensure they can help with any of the costs involved in the potential move back to the town.

In a statement, the Trust said: “Whilst there are still many hurdles to overcome before a new stadium is realised, this is another big step towards a return to Kettering for the Poppies.

“We have an account set up, into which we will put a portion of any money raised from the 300 Club, and other fundraising events, in order to start building up a pot of money that can be put towards the costs of the new ground.

“We feel it is important to start the ball rolling now - rather than wait until nearer the time, as the costs are likely to be substantial, and any money we can raise will help towards those costs.

“We will continue to keep the rest of the money we raise in our current account, in order to be able to help the club out with other, more immediate projects.

The Trust also holds an extensive collection of memorabilia, and it has been a long held ambition to have somewhere to display it.

“We therefore hope to be able to put some of the money towards a ‘Poppies Museum’ or display area within a club house.

“In the event that the planned move falls through, then we will put any money raised towards redevelopment of the current facility at Latimer Park.”
