Corinthians and Doughboys claim good victories

Rothwell Corinthians and Wellingborough Town both picked up important wins in the ChromaSport United Counties League Premier Division.

Jordan Henson and Callum Plowright both scored twice as Corinthians claimed a 4-1 home success over Sileby Rangers.

And Mark Pryor also scored twice while an own-goal also helped the Doughboys to a 3-1 victory at St Andrews.

But it was a tough day for Whitworth who went down 3-1 to Harborough Town at London Road.

Raunds Town were knocked off top spot in Division One as they suffered a 4-2 defeat at Bugbrooke.

Pinchbeck United moved to the summit after they beat Burton Park Wanderers 2-1 and next weekend sees the Shopmates facing Pinchbeck in a top-of-the-table clash.

Rushden & Higham United moved up to fourth as they came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Melton Town thanks to goals from Dylan Wilson, Sam Fowler and Ryan Kalla.

Irchester United enjoyed one of their best wins of the season so far as they beat Olney Town 4-1 at Alfred Street and Thrapston Town were also victorious as they returned from Harrowby United with a 3-1 success.

But the tough season continued for Stewarts & Lloyds as they suffered their 17th defeat from 17 matches, losing 4-0 at Huntingdon Town.
