Corby was revealed today as one of the fastest-growing boroughs in the country. Our population has increased by 1,440 in just a year and it’s showing no signs of slowing down.

So why do people love it so much here?

Well, maybe they’re attracted here by the fact we have a town centre that has held its own while others have struggled.

We’ve also got Phoenix Parkway which is full of big brands including Next, The Range and M&S Food with more on their way and you’ll always be able to find a parking space.

House prices are still among the most competitive in the region, especially as we’re just an hour from London on the train. There’ll be two trains to the capital every hour from the end of the year and because we’re the first station on the line, you’ll pretty much always be able to get a seat!

We have new communities like Priors Hall and Little Stanion, but we also have well-established communities on our existing estates - most of them within walking distance of the town centre.

Because Corby’s a new town, the roads were built with cars in mind and there is little congestion. Businesses are investing in our town all the time.

For entertainment we have a Savoy Cinema and a Nando’s, plus loads of independent restaurants and bars loved by locals.

The arts are a priority in Corby and we have our own free, annual Grow festival of light. There’s also the Core theatre right in the centre of our town inside the iconic Corby Cube where our council is based.

Next to the cube you’ll find Corby’s international 50m swimming pool, which also has a gym and fun pools.

At the heart of Corby is woodland including some of the ancient Rockingham Forest, the lungs of our town. Also in the town is a boating lake, Coronation Park and West Glebe Park which has its own Parkrun.

The borough also has some of the best schools in the whole country and a modern, post-16 campus run by Tresham College.

We also have our own share of chocolate-box villages, including Rockingham in the shadow of the eponymous castle and Gretton, which has a strong community spirit.

Our health facilities are fantastic, and when our much-loved minor injuries unit was threatened, local people mounted a huge campaign to save it.

Corby is built on migration - it was just a village until thousands came down from Scotland to work in our steelworks. So we are welcoming to new people. If you live in Corby, you’re from Corby as far as we’re concerned.

So if you need our help, we’ll be there for you as we were for the Hutchisons when DIY SOS came to town and for Grady-Finn Stevenson when he caught coronavirus earlier this year.

We celebrate our Scottish roots at the Highland Gathering every year and there are plenty of traditions we continue like Burns Night and porridge eating contests. We even have a Grampian Club!

Big businesses like Eddie Stobart, Joules, Tata, and RS Components have bases in our town and many more are moving in.

Sport is huge in Corby. There are loads of junior football clubs to choose from, rugby teams, a vibrant netball league, a state-of-the-art tennis centre and a state-of-the-art gymnastics academy. There’s also an athletics track at Rockingham Triangle, next door to Corby Town FC. The Steelmen play in the BetVictor Southern League Division One Central.

We have East Carlton Park which has a new cafe and a heritage centre and, when you’re don’t with all that we have Kirby Hall, Fineshade Woods, Fermyn Woods and the little county of Rutland - the Cotswolds Without the Crowds - right on our doorstep.

We’re also close to the beautiful market towns of Oundle, Stamford and Market Harborough.

What’s not to love?
