Storm Ciara batters North Northants: Trees down, roads blocked and leisure facilities closed
The A14 is shut, leisure outlets are closed and trees are down across the north of the county this morning (Sunday, February 9) after Storm Ciara battered the area.

Hide AdCorby Ice Rink closed its doors this morning after the winds of up to 75mph threatened to endanger skaters. Anyone who has booked tickets will be eligible for a refund.
Fineshade Wood said people should not visit today because of the danger of falling trees. Car parks have been closed and the cafe is shut.
Several roads are shut including the A14 at J12 east of Thrapston after a vehicle overturned. Nobody was injured in the incident. The road will be closed between J12 and J13 all day.

Hide AdTrees are reportedly down in Rockingham and at Rushton Triangular Lodge as well as other rural areas.
This morning East Carlton Park closed after a tree came down at the entrance.
At noon, Cineworld and 360 Play at Rushden Lakes announced they would close this afternoon after tiles began to blow off the brand new roof there. That part of the complex has been evacuated and some stores are believed to have shut their doors.
The fire service is in attendance.

Hide AdAn emergency call-out was issued for Northants Special Constables to assist with the Storm Ciara issues and 12 extra officers are on duty today to help.
Northants Highways bosses said that they have had 49 call-outs to attend tree-related incidents on their network, with calls still coming in.
They have closed three roads and are on the scene of Sol Central in Northampton which is suffering from wind damage.
An amber weather alert has been issued until 9pm.
