Rushden house fire initial investigation concludes blaze was ‘deliberate’
The initial investigation into a fire which ripped through a bungalow in Rushden has concluded the blaze was 'deliberate'.
Emergency services were called to the empty property in Northampton Road at about 2.20pm on Saturday (June 6).
Smoke could be seen across the town and residents warned to keep windows and doors shut.
Motorists had to use an alternative route as six crews of firefighters battled the blaze.

A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews arrived to find a detached bungalow on fire and wearing breathing apparatus used main jets, hose-reel jets and an aerial appliance to put it out.
“By 6.30pm, firefighters had started to dampen down hotspots and monitor temperatures and National Grid and Cadent attended to isolate the utilities to the property.
“Northamptonshire Police were also in attendance and remained on scene overnight.
“An initial investigation was carried out yesterday afternoon (June 7) and the fire is believed to have been started deliberately, with further investigations to follow.”
