Opening of Latte Laundrette in Rushden hopes to bring 'unique' experience to High Street with coffee and laundry under one roof

The Latte Laundrette has opened its doors in Rushden High Street, bringing an all-new service to shoppers who can catch up on their laundry while sipping coffee while they wait.

Inside, the cafe is stocked with the expected items and a seated area, with machines to the back of the building.

Rachel Chirico opened the business along with her husband, Sasa. The pair from Rushden hope to bring a ‘unique’ service to their hometown by combining a cafe with hot drinks and sweet treats with a conventional laundrette.

Rachel said: “We wanted coffee and laundrette together because often when you go to a laundrette they’re quite boring. I wanted the Rushden community to get together in a nice cosy place.

“It’s a unique business, there’s not a lot of us around, and we’re the first in Rushden to open as a laundrette.”

The business takes up the unit in the High Street on the corner of Coffee Tavern Lane, previously occupied by Jewkes Bridal.

The cafe-come-laundrette is open seven days a week from 8am until 8pm and offers basic laundry services, as well as ironing and service washes with ‘professional laundry facilities’, as well as ‘barista-quality’ coffee, light bites and indoor seating.

It also offers pick up and drop off in Rushden, with prices calculated by the size of an IKEA bag, ranging from £30 to £40.

The ribbon was cut on Sunday, November 2, by Rushden mayor, Gill Mercer, which saw dozens of people visit the shop ahead of its official opening to the public on Monday, November 3.
