Meet the Wellingborough TikTok creator cleaning local road signs

A Wellingborough man known as ‘The Ginger Cleaner’ has gone viral on social media platform TikTok for cleaning local road signs in Northamptonshire.

Sam Brown, from Wellingborough, is a window cleaner by trade, but had the bright idea to take to the streets of the county to clean mucky road signs, in a surprising turn to popular social media platform.

Using equipment from his day job he creates ‘satisfying’ content for viewers as they see once-neglected signs return to their original colour.

Sam said: “It all started this time a year ago when I was thinking about doing TikToks, and just things I thought people would find satisfying to watch.

“The first one was an Earls Barton sign which was bright green, and I thought I’d give it a whirl because I thought it’d be satisfying and it blew up.

“If that’s what people want to see I’ll carry on with the signs, but I’m hoping to incorporate window cleaning too.”

Sam’s TikTok account has reached over 8,000 followers, with some videos cleaning signs around Earls Barton, Wilby, and Wellingborough amassing over half a million each.

He’ll often find a sign in need of TLC, park up, and get to work, cutting down a 5-minute video into a shorter clip for the platform and providing a voice over, before publishing it to his page.

The TikTok venture has also complemented the window cleaning business in Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes, with many opting for his services after seeing the viral videos, with commenters quick to give their praise.

Sam added: “I get messages through TikTok and Instagram sayin they’ve seen me online, so it’s helping in that sense.”

“Most of it has been so nice.

“It’s a good deed in a sense, and I enjoy doing it. People enjoy seeing where they’re from getting cleaned up so most of the comments have been really positive.”
