Dog trainer opens Northamptonshire’s first exclusive doggy soft play area

A dog trainer has opened a new soft play for pets after working with families who struggled to take their dogs on walks.

Louise Burgess has always worked with animals, including roles at dog boarding kennels and rescue centres. Three years ago she became a dog trainer, helping families to train and understand their dogs.

It was after becoming a trainer that Louise realised there was a gap in the market for places where dogs could exercise and have fun, while being in a safe environment.

It was then she decided to open Chilli’s Dog Zone, a soft indoor play area in Daventry for dogs which owners can rent out exclusively for 30 minute or one-hour sessions

Mum-of-two Louise, who lives in Towcester, said: “I started Chilli's because many of my dog training clients struggled to take their reactive, young, or older dogs out for walks. They were often worried about off-lead dogs approaching them or their own dog running off.

“That got me thinking about creating a safe, fun space where dogs of all ages, breeds, and activity levels could enjoy exercising freely, while giving owners peace of mind in a secure environment that can be enjoyed in all weathers.”

The business, which also includes a doggy boutique, was named after Louise’s own dog, a golden retriever called Chilli.

And despite only being open for a few days, feedback has already been positive. Louise is already looking ahead to hold events at the soft play in future.

Louise added: “The feedback has been fantastic so far, with only five-star reviews and many customers returning to book additional sessions.

“As a small family-run business, we really appreciate all feedback, as it helps us continue improving and ensures Chilli's Dog Zone remains a fun, welcoming place that both dogs and their owners want to return to.

“We will be organising breed-specific social meet ups starting in September as well as other events and workshops, which we are really excited about.”
