Corby car park ticket loophole closed by council
Generous motorists in Corby will be unable to hand their car park tickets to other motorists after a decision to ‘upgrade’ payment machines in the town centre.
Work will take place at machines at Corby Train Station, Victoria Place (the cinema car park) and Parkland Gateway outside Corby Cube from Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
As part of the upgrade, motorists will now have to to enter their vehicle registration number when buying a ticket.
It had been customary for tickets once bought to be handed over by motorists as they left to other car park users to save a few pence – but this will now no longer be possible.

Cllr Chris McGiffen (Reform) North Northamptonshire Council’s executive member highways and travel, said: “These upgrades will make our car parks easier and more efficient to use, bringing them in line with modern parking technology across the county and beyond.
“For most drivers, the only noticeable change will be entering their vehicle registration before paying. Our teams will be on hand to help during the initial days, and we appreciate the public’s patience as we make these improvements.”
