Five-room cannabis factory found in Higham Ferrers
A large cannabis factory has been found at an address in Higham Ferrers.
Police uncovered the five rooms of cannabis plants at 9am this morning in Milton Street.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating a controlled class B drug and is currently in custody.
The East Northants police team uncovered the operation when they executed a misuse of drugs act warrant.
In a tweet, the team said they were waiting for the power company to make the property safe so they could dismantle the scene.
The discovery is the latest in a series of cannabis factories uncovered and shut down by Northamptonshire Police.
In December, police literally sniffed out an industrial cannabis factory in Oakley Hay industrial estate, Corby, when they were recovering a stolen car.
After smelling the scent of cannabis in the area, police investigated and found a double unit warehouse which had been dedicated to growing a huge number of cannabis plants.
In February police found a cannabis factory with around 1,000 plants in Weldon Industrial Estate, Corby.
The Gala Bingo site remains the largest cannabis factory found in the county, with an estimated value of £2.8m.
Chief Constable Nick Adderley has prioritised tackling drugs and said the force is focusing on those supplying cannabis.He said: "We’ve shone a light on it and we’re going to deal with it."
