New peak for coronavirus cases in North Northants tonight

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus across Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough and East Northants has hit a new high this evening.

Official figures show that there were a total of 78 positive cases recorded today across our four boroughs. This is the highest ever daily total for our part of the county - although during the previous peak community testing was not always carried out.

In Kettering there were 23 cases, in Corby there were 11 cases, Wellingborough recorded 21 cases and there were 23 positive cases in East Northamptonshire.

The 78 cases relate to lab-confirmed positive tests added to government figures test although the tests may have been carried out at any point in the past few days.

The Northants Telegraph has also learned that there are currently 37 patients with Covid-19 in KGH This is the highest number of patients for months and is up from six inpatients just 20 days ago on October 8. Two of the patients currently in KGH are in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
