The switch on event is being hosted by Gary L Johnson, who is from Wellingborough and starring in a London pantomime this year.

Performers from his theatre school, GLJ Theatre, will be on stage and there will be signing from New Harmony, a local pop duo.

Julia Wells, events officer at Wellingborough Council, said: "We are delighted that a number of fantastic local organisations and the talented cast of Aladdin will be joining us for this year’s Christmas light switch on.

"I would encourage everyone to come along and help us celebrate the start of the festive season at this event.

"It is guaranteed to be a lot of fun for all the family."
