And he says his latest one is to ensure his young squad produces consistent displays.

Kinniburgh guided the Steelmen out of a miserable run of form and into a steady campaign after he took caretaker charge at Steel Park following the departure of previous boss David Bell last season.

He was given the role on a permanent basis following the end of the last campaign and, having done some good early transfer business, Kinniburgh’s squad have started the new season well.

They are unbeaten in the Evo-Stik League South Division One Central ahead of Saturday’s trip to Dunstable Town and they had a good run to the third qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup.

But the question of consistency was raised after they suffered a 3-2 home loss to Yaxley in the preliminary round of the Buildbase FA Trophy last weekend.

And Kinniburgh said: “It has been a year now since I have been in charge, whether as the caretaker or permanent manager, and that year has presented various challenges.

“Last year, it was simply a case that we were lacking that bit of quality in certain areas and we feel we have that this season.

“The biggest challenge now is to get consistency.

“If we can produce what everybody knows we can produce on a weekly basis then we will be up there.

“But we have a young squad and we have players who are experiencing the challenge of competing at the top of a table for the first time.

“So we have to make sure we install the right mentality into those players so they are ready for the pressure that will be on them."
