Kelly the last-gasp hero as Doughboys deny Poppies to set up FA Cup replay

Rhys Kelly netted a last-minute equaliser as Wellingborough Town secured a 2-2 draw with higher-level Kettering Town in Saturday's all-Northants FA Cup clash at the Dog & Duck.

Jake Stone's looked to be heading out of the competition as they trailed 2-1 as the clock ticked on to 90 minutes.

But Kelly had other ideas as he nodded home from a corner to tie the match and set up a Tuesday night First Qualifying Round replay at Latimer Park.

The Doughboys had earlier taken the lead on the half-hour, with Lloyd Buckby firing them 1-0 ahead.

An upset looked to be on the cards until Eddie Panter netted an equaliser for Step 3 Poppies on the hour.

Kettering then looked to have clinched the win against their Step 4 hosts when Harvey Peters headed home with six minutes to play.

But the Doughboys hit back to level the match and the teams will have to go it all again on Tuesday (ko 7.45pm).

AFC Rushden & Diamonds were also involved in a Northants derby in the FA Cup, but they got through thanks to a 3-0 win at United Counties League side Desborough Town.

It was Step 5 hosting Step 4, and the home side were well in the game until they had a man sent off on 63 minutes.

Diamonds took full advantage of their extra man as within five minutes Bruno Andrade headed them into the lead.

Borough still made life tricky for Elliot Sandy's side until substitute Jordan O'Brien netted two late goals, in the 85th and 87th minutes, to wrap up he win and ensure Diamonds are in the hat for Monday's draw.

In the Pitching-In Northern Premier League Midlands Division, Corby Town threw away a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 at Loughborough Students.

Jordon Crawford gave Corby a 26th-minute lead, that was scrubbed out by a goal three minutes before the break.

Leon Mettam's side then looked to have taken control and secured the points when goals from Ollie Downs and Callum Milne saw them go 3-1 ahead.

They still had a two-goal advantage until the 89th-minute when Kash Kasukumya pulled one back, and the same player then netted an equaliser five minutes into time added on.
