Sohail Tanvir will not be coming to the Northamptonshire after being named in a squad for a Pakistan training camp.

The left-arm seamer had agreed a deal to come to the County Ground for six Championship and eight Natwest t20 Blast fixtures and his cricket board had issued a No Objection certificate to that end.

But Tanvir’s selection among 36 ‘probables’ for a month-long camp has put a spanner in the works and he will now not be seen in a Northants shirt.

It’s the latest setback suffered by the County who have already seen Jackson Bird and Rory Kleinveldt turn down their advances due to injury and while they hope to have an as yet unnamed New Zealander for the final five Championship outings, no decision has been taken as to whether they try to get someone in for the hectic schedule they have coming up.
