The driver and two passengers of a grey Vauxhall Corsa which was also involved were all taken to Kettering General Hospital.

Highways England shut the A14 between Junction 7 for the A43 and Junction 5 for Rothwell for around 2½ hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The driver of the Peugeot had to be released from the vehicle by the fire service following the collision, which occurred between 8.15pm and 8.25pm on Sunday (October 18). However this was due to the position of the vehicles rather than injury.

"The driver of the Corsa - a woman in her 30s - and two passengers were also treated at the scene, and were taken to Kettering General Hospital. However, the injuries were not life threatening or life changing, A third passenger did not require hospital treatment."
