It is hoped it will compliment the British Legion/Forces benches already there.

The bench, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day, was presented to the town from money raised by events organised by the mayor during his term of office.

Their fundraising efforts raised £7,500 in total, and other beneficiaries included local community groups, the food bank and the Encephalitis Society.

Cllr Chris O'Rourke said: "Many thanks to everyone who supported us during that time."
