Director Melvyn Hockridge, who is from Kettering, started as a mortgage adviser in 2003, working above Coley Thomson estate agents in Rushden.

He slowly started to grow the business and opened Hockridge Mortgages in 2018 in Church Street, Rushden.

Expansion has seen the team grow to five mortgage advisers and three case managers, meaning they had outgrown the office and needed to find somewhere new to call home.

The company held an open event to celebrate their new office with Higham Ferrers mayor, Cllr Nigel Brown, cutting the ribbon on the day.

They were also joined by local solicitors, estate agents, accountants and other local businesses, who all enjoyed food provided by Higham Bakery.

But with the current economic climate and cost of living crisis, the thought of moving house or just keeping up with the mortgage on your current property can be very daunting.

A spokesman for Hockridge Mortgages said: “It's been such a unsettling time recently, with interest rates increasing and the cost of living going up so much.

"We've been so busy with clients coming to see us months before the end of their fixed rates as they're worried about being able to afford their payments.

"Our message to people would be to try not to worry as there are normally options to keep the costs affordable.

"We want to re-iterate the importance of speaking to a broker.

"Martin Lewis has said on his money show so many times recently that brokers are worth their weight in gold as, unlike going direct with a bank, we know all of the deals available and which ones are suited to each person.

"We would hate to think of anyone worrying about losing their home - just pick up the phone and speak to us.”

The firm offers telephone and face-to-face appointments at flexible times and as well as arranging mortgages they specialise in insurance.
