Volunteers got stuck in to help clear damage at a pocket park caused by recent flooding.

A work day was organised to ‘put right’ the damage caused by recent floods at Desborough Pocket Park.

Members of the pocket park group committee and volunteers came together for it.

Vice chairman of Desborough Pocket Park Group Keith Brown said: “After the park was flooded, a lot of silt was washed onto the dipping platforms, also the ground being waterlogged was difficult to walk on.

"The work done by everyone means that the platforms are now free of silt, and there are now defined gravel pathways to walk on - this means that people can still enjoy this lovely park and see it as the seasons change.”

And while the volunteers were busy clearing up, they managed to get a picture of a newt that had survived the flooding.

Volunteer events are held at the pocket park several times each year.
