Sainsbury's says it will open its new store at Priors Hall on February 10.

The shop will be the first convenience store to open on the estate since the first residents moved in a decade ago.

The Sainsbury’s Local store will provide the community with a convenient and safe place to do their shopping seven-days-a-week and will mean residents no longer have to get in their cars to go shopping.

The store will also feature an Argos Click and Collect facility.

Sainsbury’s Property Director Patrick Dunne said: “The store is located at the heart of the Priors Hall Park District Centre and will give residents and visitors convenience and choice, including Sainsbury’s food-to-go products, ready meals and pantry essentials.

"We’ve been overwhelmed with local support since announcing our plans to open this store and I thank everyone who continues to work safely and tirelessly to get the doors open for our customers as soon as possible.”

Sainsbury’s Corby Priors Hall Park Store Manager Martin Gilmore said: “The team and I are excited to welcome and serve the Priors Hall Park community. The new store will offer great value and choice and we’re sure customers will love the convenience.”

The Sainsbury’s colleagues will play an active role in the local community and support Sainsbury’s nationwide community programmes and charity partners.

A Busy Bees nursery is also due to open on the estate early this year and there are several other retail units being built as part of the district centre. A gym and doctor's surgery are also proposed.

The site was once the UK's biggest building site and will eventually have more than 5,000 new homes.
