Raunds diner and bistro to close after enduring ‘just about every obstacle’ during its 10-year run
Jester’s Bistro Bar in Raunds has announced its closure after 10 years at the end of June.
Bosses have announced the bistro bar in Brook Street, Raunds, will cease trading at the end of service on June 28 after the business was unable to find a replacement for a departing staff member.
Those at the bistro say the decision is ‘not based on any financial situation’.
A spokesman said: “Throughout our time in Raunds we have tried our absolute level best to form a safe place for all to enjoy a good atmosphere with quality home cooked food and a community vibe.

“We have organised festivals, helped with charity collections, been there for our more senior members of the community.
“We have organised breakfasts with Father Christmas for the kids, taken treats to nurses at the hospital, supplied PC tablets for patients in hospital in the pandemic, taken Santa round town in the Raunds fire engine, provided help for flood victims, we even sorted a 100 year old lady’s wish to go on a motorcycle.
“We have definitely tried our best.”
Having endured the pandemic, providing home delivery services, the bistro has raised funds for local charities, supporting the community over the years by taking part in local initiatives.
A spokesman added: “The journey has been a difficult one with hard work, tears, pandemics, lockdowns, the cost of living crisis, the energy bills crisis, and just about every obstacle, but we had determination.
“We have had some truly lovely customers. In any event we feel we can hold our heads high knowing we, in the words of Frank Sinatra, did it our way.”
Customers have taken to social media to share memories, and wish Jester’s staff well.
One customer said: “This is truly terrible for Raunds. A tremendous loss of a fantastic place. I have always loved coming to eat and have the occasional chat. I hope that whatever you decide to do after this brings you as much happiness as you have brought to us.
Another added: “This is such sad news. We have loved every meal, every milkshake and of course hosting our Christening lunch for our girls. Wish you all the best for the future as you all really do deserve the best!”
