Pictures show how Wellingborough and Kettering have been hit by flash floods after storm

Northamptonshire Police are urging drivers not to head to Wellingborough town centre this afternoon.

It comes as streets in the town centre have been hit by torrential rain during the heavy downpour.

Some roads have been shut off to motorists, including busy London Road and Cambridge Street.

Pictures show how Silver Street is now under water with cars struggling to climb up the road.

Northamptonshire Highways are diverting cars round large parts of the embankment and watering has built up round some cars at Wellingborough train station.

It is also a similar situation in Kettering today where travel has been disrupted at Northampton Road.
