New Sainsbury’s takes shape at Corby’s Priors Hall

It’s been years in the planning, but residents of Priors Hall can finally see the heart of their estate taking shape.

The district centre, housing a Sainsbury’s, a nursery and several other retail units is being built at the original entrance to the estate next the primary school.

It is expected that the supermarket, one of Sainsbury’s ‘Local’ branded stores, will be the first unit to open when building is complete in early 2021, more than a decade after the first residents moved on to the estate.

The building site is being managed by the estate owners Urban & Civic and Sainsbury’s say they are strictly adhering to Government advice in relation to COVID-19.

All on-site work will be undertaken in accordance with the government’s social distancing guidelines and the supermarket chain has pledged keep working practices under continuous review to ensure they align with the most up to date guidance

Patrick Dunne Sainsbury’s Director of Property, Procurement and Cost Transformation said: “We’re very excited to provide Corby residents with a brand new Sainsbury’s convenience store.

”We will get to work as quickly as possible to fit our store out and bring customers our great value, high quality products.

”Our new store will also generate new jobs for local people. We look forward to welcoming customers in store in early 2021.”

The firm has pledged to keep the local community updated regarding job opportunities, with all new roles eventually to be advertised on the company’s website here.
