A Kettering schoolgirl's World Book Day costume took social media by storm yesterday, winning praise from across the country.

Lacey Clipstone, nine, wanted to go to Millbrook Junior School dressed as Chip Potts from Beauty and the Beast.

Sibling Sofie Dodson, 12, who attends Brooke Weston Academy in Corby, worked tirelessly to make the costume using her arts and craft skills.

And when proud mum Sara Clipstone posted about her efforts online it had a huge reaction.

The 42-year-old, who lives in Kettering, said: "It looked absolutely brilliant.

"I put a picture on a family Facebook page and it got more than 21,000 likes. It was incredible."

And the show of support was a big confidence boost for Lacey, who was upset last night (Thursday).

The nose was broken off her costume after she was chased by some children.

Sarah added that she was really touched by comments left by members of the public.

She said: "I was really proud of how hard my eldest worked and how determined she was to make the costume.

"I think they'll have to start thinking about next year's costume soon!"
