Kettering Malayalee community joins life-saving blood donation drive
Members of Kettering’s Malayalee community have come together to support a life-saving blood donation campaign organised by the Kettering Malayalee Welfare Association (KMWA).
The campaign, which was held on September 9, encouraged members to donate blood and support patients in need.
The initiative was co-ordinated by KMWA’s 35-member executive committee, with president Binoy Chakkappan, secretary Dony Chacko, treasurer Biju Nalpat and blood donation organiser Abin Thomas playing key roles.
KMWA brings together members of the Malayalee community originally from Kerala, a southern state of India, many of whom now live and work in Kettering and the surrounding area especially in health care sector.
The event also received valuable support from Jordan M, assistant donor planning and performance manager helping the campaign run smoothly.
KMWA thanked everyone who came forward to donate, describing them as ‘true life-saving heroes’ and highlighting the difference every blood donation can make to someone’s life.
The association is already involved in other community initiatives, including supporting local food banks, and hopes to organise further blood donation drives on a regular basis and charitable activities in the future.
KMWA is encouraging more people to get involved in blood donation, volunteering and community work across Kettering and the surrounding area.
