'Incredible' amount raised at Northamptonshire animal rescue and rehoming charity open day

Thousands of pounds have been raised to support the work of a charity which rescues and rehomes hundreds of animals every year.

Animals In Need opened the doors to its Pine Tree Farm base in Little Irchester, near Wellingborough on Sunday (September 13).

It was the charity’s final open day of the year and even with some rain on the day, it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.

Sanctuary manager Annie Marriott said: “We had the best day despite the intermittent rain - if you stayed until the end, we were cooking in the sun from 2pm.

"Massive thank you to everyone who pitched up, spent money, said hello to us, patted all the dogs, ate all the yummy food and supported us once again.

"Another thanks is for all of the hard work behind the scenes in the run-up to the event – the wonderful traders, organisations, small businesses and volunteers who set up in the wet, the staff who scrubbed and cleaned everything and of course the stars of the show, the animals!

"We do all of this for them so thank you to everyone.”

The day was a huge success, with Annie adding: “Overall we raised £5,000, which is incredible and we couldn’t have done without you all.”
