Family of murdered Corby resident Harshita to travel to Northamptonshire to seek justice
The family of murdered Corby resident Harshita Brella is to travel from India to Northamptonshire to seek ‘justice’.
Harshita Brella was murdered on November 10, 2024, in Corby and her husband - prime suspect Pankaj Lamba - subsequently went on the run.
It’s believed he fled to India where he is thought to remain, being helped to evade justice by family members.
In his absence, Northamptonshire Police charged Lamba with her murder in March 2025. Since then, there has been no news from official channels.

Her sister Sonia Dabas has said she is so determined to get justice for her beloved sibling that she would continue the fight till her ‘last breath’.
A murder investigation was launched after 24-year-old Harshita was found dead in a vehicle in the Ilford area of London after being reported missing from her home in Corby.
Speaking from her home in Delhi to the Northants Telegraph this week, Sonia repeated her belief that police in the UK had not been answering questions put to them by officers in India.

She said: “We are coming because the UK police are not doing anything in this case. Delhi police are asking many questions but they (UK) didn’t reply.”
In November 2025, on the first anniversary of Harshita’s murder, senior investigating officer Detective Superintendent Johnny Campbell said he was determined to bring to justice the person responsible for her death.
He said: “This is an exceptionally complex case and with criminal proceedings now active in the UK, we are unable to go into detail about the investigation at this time. However, we can confirm that the Indian authorities have been made aware through the appropriate channels of the charging decision.
"The investigation is very much ongoing and we remain as determined as ever to bring the person responsible for Harshita's death to justice.”
Friends in the UK are helping Harshita’s family with arrangements for the trip, but a date has yet to be set.
Anjona Roy, chief executive of Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council, has been supporting Sonia and her parents as they seek answers in the UK.
She said: “While her husband has been formally charged, her family feel no closer to seeing him brought into custody or facing justice.
“We have been supporting Sonia and her parents in their ongoing pursuit of justice. The family are determined to ensure Harshita’s voice is heard and that meaningful action is taken.
“We are now helping Sonia, her parents and her two children travel to the UK for an eight-day visit to Northamptonshire. During this time, they hope to meet with key authorities and urge the UK Government to use its influence to secure extradition from India.”
The estimated cost of travel, visas, accommodation and essential living expenses is approximately £8,000, part of which has already been raised.
Ms Roy added: “Every contribution — no matter how small — will help this grieving family take vital steps toward justice for Harshita.”
