A lingerie manufacturer based in Desborough has given thousands of briefs to staff and patients at hospitals in the region.

Wacoal Europe, whose UK base is at the Corset Factory in Rothwell Road, has donated more than 6,000 briefs to help the NHS during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has claimed more than 400 lives in the county.

The briefs will be distributed to Kettering General Hospital, Northampton General Hospital, Leicester Hospital Trust and Nottingham Queen’s Medical Centre.

There they will be given to staff who are working long shifts to keep us safe and patients who need new 'personal items' because of the duration of their stay and visiting restrictions.

Laura Simon, Wacoal Europe’s chief marketing officer, said: “We are so grateful to the NHS for everything they are doing at the moment.

"We’re really glad we can support our local hospitals with these donations.”

The firm, which employs more than 450 people, hopes to donate more briefs in the future.
