Closure for Rothwell bistro as owners work on 'fresh ideas, new concepts and a new direction' for town centre business
The bistro and tavern in Market Hill, Rothwell has closed temporarily as bosses announce it will take a new direction in an effort to ‘give Rothwell a space we can all be proud of.’
Owners say the business’ current model ‘isn't working in today's hospitality climate’, prompting a change in an effort to ‘redirect’ the business moving forward.
Having closed on Sunday (July 19), the bistro portion will no longer be serving customers for the foreseeable, however the Vintage Vault, the business’ bar area with outdoor seating, will remain open as usual throughout the closure of the bistro, with a planned expansion to the courtyard.
A statement reads: “Whilst we've loved welcoming so many of you through the doors, the current concept simply isn't working in today's hospitality climate.
"So, rather than continuing with something we don’t believe is right, we've made the decision to take a sidewards step and start planning our new idea.
“Behind the scenes we're already working on fresh ideas, new concepts and a new direction for the space. We're determined to build something that works better, feels better and gives Rothwell a space we can all be proud of.
"Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We can't wait to show you what's next.”
Bakehouse Bistro & Coffee Tavern opened following a refurbishment in November 2025, renovating the Market Hill building formerly used as a bakehouse and later saw the development of a new ‘flavour-first’ menu and investment to turn the historic building into a multi-venue destination.
The bistro and bakehouse currently does not have a set re-opening date, however the Vintage Vault will continue with its planned events, including AMiis in the Vault taking place this weekend on Saturday, July 25 from 4pm until 4am.
